Diabetic Foot Check
If you’re diabetic it is advisable to have a diabetic foot check at least annually to detect any changes and to prevent any related foot complications developing.
A diabetic foot check will be included in your initial consultation – where your foot health, neurological/vascular status and risk level for foot complications will be assessed. A copy of the assessment can be sent to your GP.
General (Routine) Podiatry & Chiropody
Initial appointments include a full assessment (medical history, vascular and neurological assessment) and routine chiropody/podiatry treatment.
Routine chiropody/podiatry includes:
-
Toenail cutting and filing
-
Removal of corns and callus (hard skin)
-
Reduction of thickened and fungal nails
-
Treatment of ingrowing toenails
The treatment concludes with application of urea containing moisturiser and a relaxing foot massage.
Melanie Toulson Podiatrist BSc (Hons) MChS, HCPC Registered
Footworks Podiatry & Chiropody was founded in 2013 by Melanie Toulson who graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a first-class BSc (Hons) degree in Podiatry. Beginning as a home-visiting service in the North Sheffield area, Melanie has now expanded her services by opening the Valley Footworks Clinic on Manchester Road in Stocksbridge in 2020. Melanie is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) which is the regulating body of Chiropodists and Podiatrists. This means you can be sure Melanie meets national standards of ongoing, up-to-date training and that you are protected as a patient. Being HCPC registered means she is covered by insurance providers so you can claim back a portion of your treatment costs if you are registered with providers such as Westfield and Simply Health. She is also a member of The College of Podiatry (CoP).
Melanie aims to offer a friendly, professional and high quality service, tailored to the needs of you, the patient. Her aim is to assist you in improving your foot health, leading to greater comfort, mobility and wellbeing.
